Thanks Carol...good read!
I'm hoping the "D" will be much better this year if not at the very least much harder to play against. |
|
|
|
Thanks Carol, that's a lot of hoping for that 3rd pairing. |

Agreed, I think it will be better. Gudbrandson is an upgrade on the level of play we had from Hammer last year, Hutton is a year further along, and tryamkin is an upgrade on Bartowski, Larsson is an upgrade on Weber. |

I'm stoked to see Gudbranson in the lineup, he will definitely add some much needed snarl to the back end but I'm not as confident he will be able to replace Hamhuis's minutes as easily as you suggest. His value will hopefully be in allowing Hutton to take some chances, although I suspect we end up seeing Sbisa/Gudbranson pairing a lot.
As far as Tryamkin/Larssen/Hutton those are all very much unknowns.
I do wonder how set on the pairings the coaches are. We saw some pretty effective minutes from Hutton/Tanev last year and I think a Edler/Guddbranson pairing would allow Edler to be more offensive as well.

Hutton, outside of Edler, has the most upside in terms of offensive ability. I could definitely see Gudbranson paired with him as "that stay at home" type of dman. Plus hell ensure no one messes with Hutton in a scrum
Because we all know how much Benning loves those tough in a scrum guys. |

Should be ok hopefully. Guddy logged some pretty good minutes in FLA and should be way less injured than Hamhuis was (hoping). |

Dang that overtime was fun to watch.
So regarding sbisa, that terrible pinch that lead to the Canada goal is just so typical pizza. He plays responsibly until that obligatory brain fart happens and a turnover or out of position on a pinch and they are away. Watched it happen way too much last season, banking pucks off the boards straight to oncoming forwards got so boring to watch.
I'm glad it has fallen the way it has as far as the match ups go, I was hoping for a Canada Sweden final and I think we are going to get it! |

Less injured possibly ...but way less ? He still missed significant time in 2/3 of his last 3 seasons ...and he isn't playing in the cushy east anymore |

Sucks that Team North America isn't going to move on
Mclellan is such an idiot, that he didn't inform his players that they had to win in REGULATION.

Why were the Oilers brass allowed to sabotage North America? |

But they get the 1st pick overall for the next World Cup, right? - moondawg
Even the announcers were questioning whether Team NA should pull their goalie.
I mean it was pretty obvious Finland was going to lose.
They have scored 1 goal in 3 games. |
